BANDMASTERS

Below are the Bandmasters of the Kohima Band and its forebears, in reverse chronological order.

 

WO1 (BM) Ian Harding

Ian enlisted into the Regular Army in March, 1969.

He joined the Staff Band of The Royal Corps of Signals in  Catterick Camp, Yorkshire, as a Trombonist.

He attended the pupils course at Kneller Hall from 1969-1970.

He was selected for the Student Bandmasters Course in 1980.

In October 1983, he was appointed as Bandmaster to The 3rd Bn The Royal Green Jackets, and saw active service in the Gulf War 1991.

Ian retired from the Regular  Army in 1992 after 23 years service and became a Secondary School Teacher in ICT.

He was Musical Director of The Kent Police Band from 1993 to 1996.

In 1997 he was appointed Bandmaster of the Kohima Band.
