The Kohima
Band, The
Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment

The Kohima Band takes it's title from a battle honour won by the 4th Battalion of The Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment (TA), during World War 2. Although now part of the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment, it's history stretches back through The Queen's Regiment to the 4th and 5th Battalions of the Buffs, a history we are fiercely proud of! The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment is part of The Queen's Division of Infantry, and up until 1992 was known as the Queen's Regiment. The Queen's Regiment formally came into being on the 31st December 1966. It was formed from The Queen's Royal Surrey Regiment (1st Battalion), The Queen's Own Buffs (2nd Battalion), The Royal Sussex Regiment (3rd Battalion) and The Middlesex Regiment (4th Battalion). The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment has two Regular battalions (1st and 2nd) available for service world-wide, and the 3rd Battalion a TA Battalion with its Headquarters based in Canterbury. There are also many cadets badged to the Regiment in schools and units in South East England.
